India is leveraging its Act East policy to increase its presence in East and Southeast Asia, in part as a response to China’s growing influence brought on by initiatives such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and "One Belt, One Road." The policy includes infrastructure projects, such as the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway and the Kaladan Multimodal Project, which are intended to improve transport links and trade with ASEAN nations.
