Description
This project provides for the upgrade and rehabilitation of the Bishkek-Naryn-Tourugart Road from kilometer 9 to kilometer 272.
The Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart road is one of the main transport routes within Kyrgyzstan and comprises part of "Europe-East Asia" CAREC Transport Corridor. As Kyrgyz-China economic relations have developed in recent years, activity on the Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart has significantly increased and resulted in greater deterioration of the pavement.
This project is part of a larger initiative to upgrade the Bishkek-Torugart Road (CAREC Corridor 1) which links Kyrgyzstan and the People's Republic of China. The upgrade as a whole is financed by five separate loans from the Asian Development Bank, the Export-Import Bank of China, and the Arab Coordination group.
