Description
In February 2016, the Asian Development Bank and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority signed an agreement to develop the East Container Terminal (ECT) of Colombo Port through public–private partnership (PPP). The ECT project will include the operationalization of the existing 400 meters of deep water berth and the full design, build, finance, operation, and maintenance of the remaining 800 meters of berth.
As of May 2019, Sri Lanka, Japan and India are in talks to jointly develop and operate the East Container Terminal at the Colombo Port.
