Description

An 84 km., four-lane divided carriage road bypassing the city of Allahabad (part of National Highway 2 from Kolkata to New Delhi). This project includes service roads and a bridge across the Ganges River. The expressway splits off of the Varanasi-Allahabad Road near Kokhraj, and runs north of Allahabad City before crossing the Ganges and connecting to the Grand Trunk Road near Handia. This bypass is a separately funded part of the "Golden Quadrilateral" project under the National Highways Authority of India's "National Highways Development" initiative. "The Golden Quadrilateral" project is designed to improve road connections between Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai.
