This is a logistics park being developed in Urumqi, Xinjiang's Urumqi Economic and Technological Zone (10 km from Urumqi's West Railway Station) as part of the One Belt One Road/Silk Road Economic Belt initiative. The objective is to integrate railways, highways and air transit in the region. The project broke ground in 2014 and was originally expected to be completed in 2015, but as of July 2016, was still under construction. The logistics park is located on Suzhou Road, extending from North Rail Station to West Rail Station and on to Wangjiagou. Apart from a logistics center, a financial center, business center, and commodity display shopping center will also be built. The project as a whole is called "Natural Future City." This project is part of a city-wide initiative ("Urumqi City Logistics Development Plan 2013-2020") to turn Urumqi into a logistical hub for trade with Central Asia. Specifically, the plan seeks to increase imports from Central Asia and eventually Western Europe by adding multi-linguistic service hubs and improving logistics technology.
The project recently announced that the Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone signed an MOU with the Port of Duisberg in Germany. The Port of Duisberg will hold a 20 per cent stake in a newly established company, Xinjiang International Railway Port Limited Liability.
